the car i have is an ex and came with the d16z6 but an automatic tranny. it's labeled M24A on the tranny but wondering is this an ex tranny? or did they even make an ex tranny that was an automatic? if not then what is the M24A auto tranmission? and are the gear ratio's any good and what setup would be recommended such as boost or n/a? thanks

Have you looked up the specs to see the differences?
lol. yea couldn't find any info on the specs of the tranny, thats why i made a post asking..lol. to EG8SIR, where did the lx tranny talk come from? what r u talking about?. but i guess im hearing the M24A fits most applications for civics in the 92-00 models. supposively it's a JDM tranny. and yea i did save money from doing a rebuilt than auto to manual swap. and this tranny has been doing great since 2 yrs ago. ( on boost)..

i know it's an old thread but i thought i'd post some info to share. the M24A is an automatic for the EX/Si and the specs i found is the S20 has a final drive of 4.25 and the M24A has a final drive of 4.33. i've been doin some research about swapping my ML4A to a M24A cuz the autos for the 88-91 only have a 3.93 final drive. i have read that it has electronic shift solenoids where the L4/ML4A is all hydraulic valves. is this true?

You should go out and get a "slow" handjob from Edward Scissorhands for bumping a 4 year old thread that nobody cares about!
