I'm looking to drop my '91 CRX DX a bit - and I mean *only* a bit. I'm looking at some of the springs that will drop it about 3/4" to 1" all around. Sure, I like the look of a slammed car, but I live where there's always construction and potholes, and I don't like the RIDE of a slammed car. I've already got an '87 CRX Si that's so low and stiff it'll beat your kidneys to mush if you drive it on the street (it's an autocross-only car, now). And my daily-driver "work truck" is a '91 Accord Wagon (5-speed) that I stiffened up a bit. The '91 CRX actually rides quite a bit softer than the Accord now, and I want to keep a decent ride, but I also want it just a bit lower.

What springs have you used? What do you like, what do you hate? Most importantly, what do you recommend? I've heard decent things about some of the Neuspeed springs, but I've heard better things about H&R's "SoftSport" (I think that's what they're called). Any favorites out there? Any reason NOT to buy H&R or Neuspeed?

Keep in mind that this car is NOT a race car, and likely never will be. I've already got a CRX for racing, and it does a great job at it - it typically places first or second in the CSP class at the local level. This is my weekend toy, used mainly for going to meets (sometimes involving LONG drives to meets) or just for cruising on the weekends. It's also a bit of a showcase vehicle for a side business that a couple of us run: Effin Motorworks. My aim is *subtle* performance - no wild graphics or bodykits, just good performance with a restrained (almost stock?) look.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Eibach Pro-Kits

Good Company, Great springs.
Try them, they have what you are
looking for I am almost positive.
I think that Modacar can help you with that...

I have only used Eibach springs. I do have H&R wheel spacers, they are nice and if that is any hint toward the quality of their springs your in good shape.

Neuspeed is just getting up to speed with Hondas, they were
mostly VW but seems to be moving into this market over the
past few years.

I have not heard of any bad news from any of the spring manufactures...I think that Neuspeed has their springs manufactured by someone else and brands it to their name...dont quote me on this, but I think its true. Heck, its like that with most of their stuff.

Robin: Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, it seems I heard the same thing about Neuspeed; if memory serves, their springs are actually made by Eibach, which is no bad thing. Ditto for Ground Control - I use their rear setup on my '87 Si.

The only spring I can say I was really disappointed with was Suspension Techniques. And that was a shame, because I *like* the rear swaybar I got from them for my '87. I bought ST springs for my wagon, which were *supposed* to lower it about 1.75" all around. Instead, they SLAMMED dat beyotch - about 4" in the rear and 3.5" in the front. I hated 'em, and ditched them as quick as I could get them out of the car!

I'll check out Modacar - I've looked at their stuff for my other cars in the past, so I'll have a look at the Pro-Kits. It could be just what I need.

Thanks again,

Mike

Interesting that Eibach can sell to these other companies, they must be good!

One more vote for Eibach. Very happy with them after 4 years. Traction improved considerably.
Consider using the Ground Control Top Hat at the change.

Are you no longer "Mr."? I'm on honda-perf too, although I infrequently post.

I talked with a guy at a local shop about the neuspeed springs. he said they tend to sag after awhile. and that eibach and progress are some of the better springs that hold up. just remember, your suspension is something you should never go cheap on.
