D16Y7 trans

D16Z6 mainshaft, 2nd gear on countershaft
SRR countershaft, ring gear
ZC 3rd gearset

Assembled shafts according to the Helms manual for my car. Interlock guide bolt is properly aligned.

I can move the shifter side to side, but can only put it in 3rd and 4th. Trans is split open and not in car. Using screwdriver to shift.

Snap ring won't snap into bearing.

No burs in case.

Dropped it upside down countless times. Took case apart, put back together, still won't do it.

Measure the bearing OD on both mainshafts (the shafts that have the snap ring going into them0. I did this just a short while ago (August). The bearings (1st and 2nd bearing) on one tranny are 2 different diameters. The 2 bearings on the other are the same diameter. I think its the 96-00 having 2 diameters, and the 92-95 tranny has the same diameter. The bearings on the 92-95 shaft won't fit into the case from the 96-00 tranny. I used the bearings from the 96-00 shaft on the 92-95 mainshaft to fit the 96-00 case.

Hope that makes sense!

I warned him to reuse the Y7 bearings, if he didn't, likely cracked the outer race.

DX vs. Si, 88-00, you have to keep the right size bearings......

I reused the Y7 bearings.

Only parts I swapped were the shafts and gears themselves, nothing else.

Countershaft

Reverse/sync sleeve will not move. Took apart and reassembled and it still won't move.
