It would be well worth it in a lot of ways, however recently, I have been hearing that on a turbocharged car pushing high psi, it is bad, because you need the extra mass on your flywheel, to keep your RPM's up (and to stay under boost, which is vital). This is from my brother. I sort of disagree here, because I believed that it'd still be beneficial, but I don't have a high hp civic like him, so I am unsure.

I have heard nothing but good things about Clutchmasters alum. flywheels..look into them.

Just watch out for the idle. With a lightweight flywheel, the compression of an engine can make the idle somewhat rough because there isn't enough mass to counter and smooth the changing forces in the engine. A long duration cam would be beneficial here because it will effectively lower the compression by allowing gases back into the manifolds at low engine speeds.

I had my stock flywheel lightened 6lbs when I had my clutch replaced. I have had no problems with it at all. It was worth it IMO.

Hey 95ex how much money did it cost to lighten your flywheel? And how do they do it? Dose it affect strength? or life of the flywheel?

If you have the money, try to go with a straight up aftermarket lightened flywheel, rather than lightening your stock one. lightening it will make it slightly weaker.

Haven't heard anything about ACT's specifically.

I lightened the stock flywheel in my '91 CRX DX from 19# down to 13#. The machine shop charged me $75 for the lightening, balancing, and resurfacing. So far, it's performed flawlessly. The car idles perfectly, launches easily, and spins up a bit better than it did when stock.

hey kommon, most people I have heard from that bought the streetlite wish they had gotten the prolite. If you have any questions on it or how it drives let em know before you recieve yours -- if there is still time.

using the fidanza 6.5lb.

wayyyyyy too light for my stock motor.
no torque
rough accelleration sometimes.
downshifting to slow the car is almost obsolete. it hardly lowers speed.

i wouldnt go any less than 8lbs.

i think if i had more ummmf to my motor i would be more pleased.

That's why going lower than 10lbs. isn't good for me. At least something around 10-15lbs. would be optimum, at least as far as I'm concerned.

i have the act prolite (8.4lbs) paired with an exedy racing clutch. it made a great difference and made the car a lot more fun to drive. Also, daily driving is pretty smooth, but if i launch below 3000 rpm it sucks. got both from clutchcityonline as a package deal for $510 shipped.
