for the money (new and used) the gains are better from a turbo or nitrous depending on how much you want to spend and how much power you want. The SC leaves little to no upgrades possable but has pretty decent power

i took a ride with him. it runs great. i'd still rather go turbo (cause of ther noise) but it runs great. if you can find a good deal grab it. if not buy a turbo kit or make one.

probly see more gains with a auto to manual swap than you would with the JRSC, but I am a fan of the JRSC, just bolt it on and forget about it... As you can afford fuel upgrades you can always swap out your pulley to up the boost. Definately not as much power gains as the average turbo kit, but definately more reliable and less of a hassle.

I have a JRSC for a SOHC that I might be considering to sell. It has the stock 6lbs pulley and a custom pulley that puts out 13.5lbs of boost on a D16 and 11lbs of boost on a d15. The SC is complete and comes with EVERYTHING inlcuding FMU. I'll post pics of anyone's interested. I've had it for about 4500 miles.

I have the JR FMU but I suggest that you use a something along the lines of Hondata. I'll gladly put pics up this weekend. If yall want I'll consider throughing in a Vortech FMU(12:1) for alittle bit more. But along the lines of price. I'm not too sure. I'm not a greedy man so I'm not going to be asking alot for it. And I'm not really looking for trades. But if you offer me something that I can't pass up then... I won't.

oh, and it doesn't come with a belt. Well... it does but it's used but you should get a new belt anyways. You don't reuse someone else's timing belt do you? So you shouldn't use some else's blower belt

I saw a comment about 1.5-2psi at idle??? No it sits in vacuum. It has a bypass valve that creates NO boost at idle or very light throttle. The valve shuts when you want the power and believe me its instant. when cruising at light throttle boost will sit at 10-20psi of vacuum, then when you hit the throttle its an instant 6-8 psi depending on what pulley you are running and the overall flow of your engine. Also engine rpms play a role in boost psi as it is belt drivin. From merging onto the highway under 1/2 - 3/4 throttle I may see 3psi of boost up to 5 or 6 and if I stay in the gas to redline it will peak at 10psi.

My opinion about the JRSC in general is very good. I have hardly ever popped the hood to make sure everything was up to snuff. Basicaly bolt it on, tune it and forget about it. I'm using a cartek FMU with an adjustable rising rate ratio up to 15:1. It works very good much better than the JR IMO and have been running stock injectors for about 30k miles now. So far so good.

The down side like we all know is upgrading. I knew this when I bought it and really didnt feel the need for more boost on my B7 as it cant handle it anyways. You can always do the option of water/alcohol injection seeing as you cant intercool it. My next build will definatly be turbo, high boost, and a complete build including sleeves and a little bore :) This project will take tons of time and wads of cash so in the meantime the SC is perfect for me. 37mpg on the highway, power on demand and pretty much worry free. I'm sure power gains on a Z6 will be much better than my puny B7 but what can you compare it to? Well, at the 1/8 mile track its about .1 quicker than a stock GT mustang. Thats not much but then again...its only a 1.5 non vtec. Did I mention the engine has 230k miles on it and blows smoke hehehe. Hope that helps you make a decision.

hey how come when ever u guys run the JRSC on the D16 there's no problem.....
I've had mine on for 3mths now and it's still not right...
I've changed the JR FMU to the Cartech FMU and my stock pump to the walbro 255.... and also using the VAFC to adjust the injector cycle
and just this past few days the map cel code keeps coming on when the car goes into boost
does anyone know what the problem could be? I thought the pressure sensor switch is suppose to keep the map sensor from seeing boost

What about using one of those "missing link" gizmos? I know that people some times run into the map sensor problem when running boost with a turbo. Same deal for a SC right? Just a thought....

Ah, that's a LOT of boost to be asking from the small M45 unit.....

I have a JRSC for my D16Y8 auto... The JRSC boosted the acceleration by a lot from stock mainly due to the long gears of the automatic (the power gains in the midrange becomes very useable). Instead of the sluggish feeling that you get off the line with a stock D16 or even a turbo D16 at 1000-2000RPM, you can peel rubber by just mashing the gas with the JRSC. I wouldn't say the car is mad fast though, but I can hang with most of the compact V6 sedans like Accord V6's or Camry's and such off the line... Which is exactly what I want for my daily commuter.

I would worry more about the stock auto tranny more than anything if you plan to make power. I didn't go turbo because I know the power transition of a turbocharged engine (and more overall power) will destroy my stock auto tranny in no time. So far, I have about 30000 miles on my JRSC D16Y8 with stock auto tranny (with ATF cooler) and it is running pretty strong still.
