I've got a 1994 Honda Civic EX. When I start the car the idle will jump 500 RPM (from maybe 700 RPM to 1200 RPM), then drop, then jump back up, rhythmically up and down. It continues to do this even when car has warmed up...Any ideas why it is doing this? Could it be the Idle Air Control?..If this is the case, could it possibly be just carboned up or something, and if so, how do I go about cleaning it? Any ideas?
Thanks!

my car is doing the same thing, started after i put a y8 head and intake on. i'm pretty sure its the iac cuz the only code it throws is 14 or p0505 which is iac system fault. i havent fixed mine yet, someone did say to spray it with carb cleaner, maybe its just stuck. i havent tried yet though. let me know if you figure something out. cuz at the dealer that part is kinda pricy.

Well, I tried cleaning the IAC. It seemed to improve it a little bit, but it still does it. Someone on honda-Tech said that it could also be a vacuum leak...We'll see. I'll let you know if I solve the problem...

Check the lines that goes from the intake manifold to the closest side of the tb for any leaks.. then pull the tb off and check the little vacuum "box" were the line runs through for anything wierd looking. If nothing.. then put it back on and forget that i ever said anything.

My D16A6 CRX starting doing something similar when it started overheating chronically. Then the idle just stayed up at around 3,000 rpm. I think it was a blown headgasket b/c all the coolant kept disappearing after like 15 minutes of driving (without any visible leaks).

I would get a check engine light staying on when the idle started jumping around too. Is this consistent with a blown head gasket? I never bothered to check it out; I just swapped out the motor w/ a hybrid setup.
