I am the third owner of someone else’s project car and I’m trying to clean the IACV but I have a minor conundrum.
It’s on the bottom of the intake, is this normal for a d16y8 engine? I can’t find any evidence of this being the norm on forums or YouTube so I’m sort of lost

thats not the iacv lol

thats the fitv (fast idle thermo valve)

slo edit

unless thats a y7 throttle body, the iacv should be on the back of the y8 intake.

Did I miss it by miles, or has there been zero picture posting by OP?

There are 3 intake manifolds that "look d16y8"

manual Y8 has the 2-wire IACV on the backside
auto Y8 has a 3 wire IACV mounted on the throttlebody
manual HX d16y5 has the similar intake, but it is TINY inside. Treated like manual y8, but has EGR location.

I think I figured it out with the help of a YouTube video. I have an auto y8. Would you like to confirm I circled the IACV on the underside of the throttle body

You were told literally a few posts above, that that was a FITV, and NOT an IACV. You even used the exact same image!

This is the IACV.
On a D-series engine:
Only the D16Y7 Throttle body (Manual or Auto.) and the D16Y8 w/ Auto. trans, have this "Throttle body mounted IACV" configuration.

FWIW,
FITV's are found on, some (idk exactly which), B-series Throttle bodies. The other B-series Throttle bodies have two coolant, 'warming' nipples, to assist getting the Throttle body warmed-up on Cold starts.

Yep, I feel dumb. Y7 IACV setup.

I forgot the Y7 has it bottom mounted when you turn the cable spool sideways for a plenum intake.

Fuck, I should know better, since I have done the Y8 intake swap on a couple Y7 engines.

lol.
I’m a bit obsessive, but it does aid that I visited all this ‘IACV madness’ over the past 8-10 months with my own build.
Still fresh..
But don’t ask me in a year haha
