In the near future i plan on going turbo with my d15b7. Ive been searching all night through my very few options and have finally settled where im at now. I would just like to run my parts list through you guys and see what you think and make sure im not insane. So here it goes

First off im going mini-me with a d16y8 head then

CxRacing 134.5 mm rods
SRP pistons for d16a6 75.5mm bore and -6.6 dish
Arp head studs and rod bolts
Dsm injectors
Warlbro 255
Cometic Head Gasket 75.5mm Bore .030" for the d16z8
Head milling 0.010

Now if i run this by the zeal compression calculator i get 9.3

Is this making sense to you guys or am i insane?

if you plan on going turbo down the road, why not either get eagle rods or just go to vitaras and get p2p rods. People making over 400whp on them. My 0.02
Compression sounds about right.
when it comes to headgaskets btw it doesn't matter if its bored .20 lol.

I was under the impression that you needed the JDM d15b crank to run the eagle rods, is that incorrect?

They will work with any d16 crank as far as i know, but you will probly have to notch the block/girdle. There's several writeups on it, anyone could pretty much do it.

I thought that you couldn't use the d16 cranks in a d15 cause of the Main journal size. Thats why you would have to use the JDM d15b crank cause they have the Main journal of the d15b7 and the rod journal size of the d16 so that you could use the eagle rods or other d16 rods. Thats why i was sticking to the stock crank with cxracing rods and d16a6 pistons

Ah didnt see you had a d15b. Yeah the only d15 crank that will work with d16 rods is the JDM d15b. Other option is get a d16 crank and have a machine shop turn your rod journals to take the d15 journals.

slap, youre correct. d15 cranks are different from d16's and you would need a jdm d15b crank to run d16 rods.

i like that your giving me other options to consider cause the first option isnt always the best option. Im really thinking i wanna stay with the d15b7 crank though.

Honestly if your car is your daily driver, instead of pulling motor to build shortblock. pick up a cheap 1.6 block locally. scrapyard, craigslist etc. And build it in your spare time.

That would probably make the most sense but for some reason im just stuck on the d15b7. Ill keep that in mind though, thats definitely a possibility

think it isn't worth it. Id rather get a d16 block and build that. check the search feature, see what other d15b7 builds have been built. you may get better ideas than spit balling.

ive searched through every d15 turbo build i could find and the best option i could come up with is the original setup i had posted. i could also mill the head more to get a higher cr but as far as i can tell this setup should work

Get a D16 to start with, many more options.

SRP/JE have been under going changes, moving everything back to Ohio or outsourcing work. Dunno if all our Honda parts were outsourced to begin with, but who knows.

I really wanna stay away from a d16 if i can. i understand the d16 is the best option and im being pretty stupid but not going that route. for some stupid reason i just wanna be different and build the d15. i may have worded my first post incorrectly but i really just wanna know if my original idea could actually work rather then do a swap. I had actually been reading through these forums all night and i saw alot of your posts in other turbo builds i was reading. So i really appreciate your thoughts cause you seem to be one of the more knowledgeable people on the forums. Im sorry if im being stubborn. i dont wanna give off a bad impression in my first thread, i plan on spending alot of time on here. thanks so much to all

I'm not exactly sure how being "different" in terms of having a d15 block instead of a d16 block will ever get you more rep. At the end of the day it'll still be a mini-me and that's all that matters. They aren't going to be like, "WOW HES GOT A D15 BLOCK THATS SO UNIQUE." Save yourself a headache later on and get a d16 block lol.

ONLY reason to stay away is class rules issues.

Also, the valve reliefs are different on the pistons between 88-95 NON-VTEC heads and 92-95 VTEC/96-00 All (?)

In short you are wanting a highly detailed build for pennies, it's not gonna happen. Labor costs making parts fit to work...."well you might as well bolt in an 4.8L
LSX for cheaper!"
