Ok guys I have an 89 HF that I am building. I am going to be puttin down quite a bit of horsepower with SOHC woot woot. I have two Z6 trannys but I am lookin for a Y8 but my question is should I convert over to hydro and use those trans or find an SI cable tranny? I am not scared of converting it because I have a 92-95 that is crashed that I can rape everything from. Please any input is appreciated and if you know of any thorough write ups I would appreciate it. Thanks

James

Find a cable tranny...........

the biggest difference is the rear mount to the subframe.

I'm not saying it can't be done, because it already has. But it was done on a RACE car, aka Bisi's Nemo CRX. Mind you he was also running a F22 motor mounted to a SOHC D series tranny.

HASport makes a kit that will let you run a b-series hydro tranny in a cable car, but I haven't seen any one do it with a d-series yet. In any event, it can be done, but be prepared to do some custom work.

Honestly, if I were you, I would save myself the hassle and just get a cable Si tranny.
