I picked up a z6 head for real cheap. The previous owner mentioned that it may have aftermarket valve springs, retainers and cam (he supposedly never used the head, and got it in a trade).

Is there an easy way for me to ID aftermarket cam/valve springs without taking them out of the head?

Cam is easy, just look where the distributor mounts and see if it has any codes. Sometimes the code is on the side of the cam.

Most aftermarket valve springs have a red stripe on them(but oem have a smaller red stripe too)
