I hv a d15bvtec it never had a block heater. Does this sound right? How do I add a block heater to my 96 civic with a d15bvtec (92-95 motor) ? ?

use the factory option from the dealer.

The coolant needs to be drained.

There will be a silver flat bolt/washer combo where the brass heating element is on this block. remove it.

See the shiny brass thing there? that's the block heater. It's essentially the same thing that is in a kettle that boils water in your kitchen. Just smaller.

Screw that in, following proper tq and new washer.

Plug in the cord on those really cold nights, your engine would hug you if it could.
