First the specifics:

  • 95 Hatch CX chassis
  • Hiring a machine shop to rebuild a D16Y8 (pm6 pistons, milled head, Bismoto level 1 cam, etc.)
  • stock SI fuel injectors (d16z6) to match wiring
  • Walbro HP 190ph fuel pump
  • The motor will be tuned on crome and I'm going for 11:1 static compression
I've done quite a bit of searching and (as usual) I can't seem to find conclusive evidence to match my scenario. This car will be going to California eventually so it needs to pass a visual smog inspection.

I need to get an fpr in any event since I bought the engine parts separately and that was one of the missing items. I was about to buy an adjustable fpr and found that it isn't carb legal. So the question is:

Can my build be tuned properly without an adjustable fpr?

Bisi custom 2.2 with P29's and a head mill, I was at 12:7:1 and never rocked a FPR?

You'll be fine, 11:1 is kiddy play.

No need for an adjustable FPR unless you go boosted.

Even the best NA honda builds never see over 5PSI of manifold positive pressure from a specially tuned setup

You will be fine
