Best Cheap and Easy way would be to put a 88-91Si head and Intake manifold on....should throw a header on while your at it......and use a Si or Dx tranny.

The car in stock form will run like 19's....i highly suggest the si tranny when the head swap is done and just gut the interior he could be seeing some high 15's low 16's depends on how he drives.

what head swap

will a si head fit on the block

if so what will be the time with a HF tranny

a DX tranny and SI tranny

and you think he can do this for under 500 -800

Get the 88-91 civic/crx si Head....it will fit on block. can be done for under 800. Not sure what time will be with HF tranny....its got a really long 2nd gear. With a Dx he can get a high 15 or low 16 and si a little better.

he just needs to swap the motor. i used to have a hf crx and i had a dx motor and a si intake manifold, si ecu and a dx trans. i beat a crx with a b16 in it multipul times. he almost shit himself when he saw the 1.5 under the hood. do that and he'll love it compared to what he has now. btw when i got the car it already had the swap but it still had the hf trans and it really sucked ass.

first off you don't need new hubs when you do the swap. i bought my trans with axles. when i pulled the trans out i matched up the axles and they are the same axle except for the ends for the hubs. so i just put my old hf axles back in. and the d15b motor would be a great swap as well.

when you swap a 16v head onto the hf you must swap the pistons out for ones that are made for a 16v head. the hf pistons only have valve releifs for 8 valves. the only 8 valve motor that i know of that you can swap heads on is the b8. my b8 had 16v pistons in it.

yes HF is 8 valve but by swapping to a crx si head makes it a 16 valve.
So what do you do when the extra 8 valves have no valve reliefs in the pistons, thereby SMACKING together and BENDING 8 valves?????

hey i did that head/intake/trans swap on my crx, is dose not bend the valves, if you set the timing right, seems to me like it make higher compression, i have been running good and strong for at least 4 pr 5 months, i think the crx runs mid 15 sec. i also got the zc cam. and the si trans

Your piston to valve clearance must be VERY close!!!

I would not recomend a 16 valve swap to an 8 valve bottom.

Why did you do this??!!
