hesitant start

it all seemed to happen on a rainy day, when i was spinning 1st and 2nd gear for fun... had the speedo oscillate from 40-60..etc... and then i stopped..because it seemed like a good time to stop. and then my car starting boggin...misfiring or what not - turns out that cylinder #3 - the wire popped off the distributor. engine moved too much while doing the "spinning??" anyways - now, sometimes during cold starts, my car won't start on the first try - it'll start on the second try always. just wanted to know what i needed to check... etc.

Battery ain't dying? Turns over strong? Are you having any problems with the spark plug wire coming loose again? Though I'm sure it would still fire if you completely removed the spark plug wire.

Whens the last time you tuned up the car? Maybe it needs a tuneup, filters, plugs, cap and rotor, etc.

yeah - the wire doesn't come off anymore - but the hesistant start happened after the "incident" so i don't know if there was any connection. but regardless... a tune up may be in line... although the distributor was recently replaced...
How do the plugs looks like? wire resistence? battery voltage?
