help with my D15B VTEC

ok so here's the skinny... a while ago i blew the old D16Z6 and i had to swap in a D15B 3-stage VTEC.. cost me alot and the mechanic gave the car back with the check engine light on.. he told me to hold onto it cuz he needed room in his place to work on other cars and the car could "run" anyway.. Well i finally took it back and he's puzzled by the car because he cant seem to figure out what's wrong with it.. the computer says its the MOP/BRO sensor (a friend told me thats the MAP/Barometric Pressure sensor).. any ideas?

I've been having a problem of going past 80 MPH the computer will limit it and wont let the engine rev past 5,500 rpms on 3rd (ATX) and sometimes while driving it wont go past 5,500 rpms on any gear.. any ideas? please help cuz this is urgent and any help is appreciated! thanks!

bump!
it sounds like its in open loop,,try replacing the map sensor
the mechanic had put the Y8 manifold when he did the swap and kept the MAP sensor on there.. when we took it back, he got the MOP/BRO code and got the D15B IM and took the MAP sensor from there and dropped it into the Y8 Manny.. it worked for a few minutes and then started throwing the same code again..
oh and the distributor was leakin oil out from under it and stopped working about two days ago.. left me stranded on the road and had to push it home (about 10 ft hehe) but w/e aside from that i cant figure out what's goin on
What ecu are you running?
yup if the tock p28 is in there it will run like SHIT the 3stage is obd2 and will only run on the p2j(Ithink) ecu, I belive you could also chip a p28 and just cut the 12 valve section of the map out and run t in permanent 16v mode.
its the Y8 ECU from what i was told the system is OBD2. it runs fine with that ECU the only problem is the vtec kicking in on time (cuz when i got it back after the swap it would engage 500 rpms late i.e. 6,500 rpms) so i was thinkin of replacing the single vtec solenoid that came off the Z6 and put in the dual vtec solenoid and wire the red wire to 12V source so that 2nd stage will always be engaged.. what do you think? there's just so much [email protected] goin on.. like i cant go past 80 mph for some reason and sometimes the rev limiter cuts in at 5,500 rpms for no reason..
no have the ecu activate the 2nd stage, wire the first stage to be always on.
i just pulled the distributor today to return it to Advanced Auto Parts and replace it.. after that i'ma clean up the engine before i put it on and then i'ma swap the VTEC solenoid and wire up the red wire switch to be on all the time and have the green wire switch hook on with the ECU
i had this problem well rather my dad did on his accord its if you go past think its 3k down changing it limits your car or somthing along those lines
sorry i didnt quite understand that.. could you rephrase that? oh and to the rest, i pulled the Distributor and found 2 sensors and the tranny case covered in oil. my cousin whose a mechanic told me that its possible they coulda shorted out..
My $0.02:
I agree with Speekjunky01: It's only common sense that a 3-stage VTEC engine also needs a "3-stage-aware" control program in the ECU.
I have a D15B i will like to know wich rods will fit this engine for a N/A I already bought the PM7 pistons .Just wannt to know wich rods are better for build up ...

for n/a aplications I would shootpeen the stock rods and have them ballanced to as accurate of a weight as you could, have the whole rotating assembly balanced if possible.
But There Are Not Any Performance Rods A Can Change To This Application

yes there are, any d16z6 aftermarket rods will work just fine. But for n/a you dont really need better rods its just the rod bolts that should be upgraded to ARP if you are going to be spining the motor past 7500rpm+
so the same rods that I used for d16ZC or the acuras 88 one's will fit on my D15B
no the d16z6 the 92-95 civic EX/Si in the US. not sure of the models outside ofthe usa, just look for d16z6 rods.
Thanks A Lot
