I really believe that the timing is dead on. I tied moving the cam one tooth advanced and one tooth retarted and it was the same, I put the distributor in with out bolts and moved it all over the place to see if it made a difference... Still nothing. I am putting the groove on the crank pully (the one to the right of the red one a inch or so) right on the pointer, and the cam is lining up right with the pointer on the plastic cover behind the cam sprocket, while the other 2 lines are parallel with the valve cover mounting surface and the top of the cam gear says "up". Am I doing somthing wrong ?
-Thanks...

Try clearing up the CEL code...as in fixing the problem.
the cel and the problem are the same thing. the car is throwin a cel cuz it cant relate to the signal that the crank angle sensor is outputing. Therefore throwin the ecu into limp mode. Check for shorts in the wires, and grounds oun your motor. If that doesnt help then trace all the wires back to the ecu and check for shorts and test the crank sensor by way of helms or a haynes manual. Your timing might be off a half tooth but im not sure, mine was with my a6/y8 mini me , buti quickly corrected that with my adjustable cam gear, advanced 4.5* in my case.

yea, i had this same problem, i had to convert to obd1 using a z6 dizzy, ecu and four wire o2....timing will not be correct if you use the a6 dizzy....cheapest fix right now would be that, or either switching to a y8 head and using a vafc for vtec....

ya you are definately in limp mode. The only suggestion staying obd-0 would be putting on a y8 head as you will be able to use another properly working a6 distributor. BUt if you want to use the proper dizzy for your head get the p28(d16z6) dizzy, but you will have to convert to obd-1 then.

Ok I went through and tested the crank angle sensor as per the Helms manual, I don't have a PGM-FI test harness so I cant really test the ohms at the ecu. The angle sensor tests good at the dizzy. So I guess I should find another known good ecu and see what happens ?
