Will D16A1 pistons work with a
D16Z6 head and a D15Z1 block (ie. D15B) ? If so will I get a 12:1 compression ?

Or do I have to get a D16A6 block for it to work.

Or what block works with A1 pistons ?

In essence:-

I have the D15B as mentioned above and I want to get a 16 block and pistons and a cam, whats the best combo for a D16Z6 head cause the D15z1 block has to go.......... I hear that the way to go is to get the A6 block and the A1 pistions or A6 pistions... which will give me more power... I want to keep my car as a street daily driven car also...

Can some one give me some guidance...

Thanks All.

those pistons will not work in the d15b.if u have a d15b and want to bump compression, get the honda civic gx pistons.part no. PMS-A00. they will give u about 12.0 or higher depending on milling and headgasket used.there is a link here on the forum to sumones write up about it on honda-tech.

there is a plus if go with either motor, the a6 i think is the strongest of the 1.6 blocks and the d15b has a better rodstroke ratio.so its up to u whats available and cheaper.

What are you talking about, they will fit the d15b motor. All d-series motors share the 75mm bore. I have d16a1 (p29) pistons in my d16a6 and they bolted right on to my rods. There is no reason why they will not fit the d15b motor.

a little bad info there dragman........

the D15B (VTEC) motor uses 137 mm long rods like the D16 motors.

D15BEAST.......

D15B7, D15Z1 rods, GX pistons with 19mm wrist pins, and a BIG cam from Wil @ Exospeed.

Thanks again all but please be sure when you post technical info. I posted this topic to get help as I am a layman when it comes to engine building but I am learning pretty quickly........so when I see a person post one thing and then someone else contradicts that post then I do not know who to believe........I know that A1 pistions will work with and A6 block but I just want to know if they will work with the D15Z1 block.. But I guess the safest bet is to get an A6 block and use the A1 pistions with the Z6 head..

mmmmmmmmmm how much HP should that produce??

peace

im planning on grabbing a set of the a1 pistons...transzex...u sed the rods are the same length in the d15b as other d16s...does this mean the wrist pin locations are the same too? if not, will replacing the rods in the d15b with a1 rods solve the problem? also, without jackin the thread, is there a huge difference between the a1 and a6 pistons? cuz i can get my hands on a decnt a6 bottom end for dirt cheap, but i dont want to do it if the a1 pistons will yield a better jump in power...

thanks

i dont get it ,if the p29 pistons will work in a d15b then why are u runningthe gx pistons.

these pistons will not work in a 1.5.if u dont belive me try it in your motor and then turn it on.

why won't they work in a D15 USING VX rods?

I've had the pleasure of talking with the builders of the original Y8/GX setup.
