i had the same problem in my 93 dx. when i ran around like normal, no problem, but when i ran it above 5k and shifted, it would grind every time. it was predictable and consistent. any hard shift into second, SSSHHHHRRRKKK! but it ran fine, and shifted fine as long as i was easy on it.

motor mounts. the rear one, mainly. mine did that and I put NRgy motor mount inserts, and it hasn't grinded since.

I know..... lol. I saw one and had to have it. Also, I did the shift stabilizer, and there is a world of difference. I'd recommend that one, too.
