Hi, i am looking into a good SOHC project for my 92 hatch. As of right now i have a D15B (jdm) engine with a dsm turbo running 9psi. My questions are:
What is a good engine to boost, good tranny, and good turbo?
This is the first time on building an engine soooo completly nervous. If you could just give me some good product, tips and parts for this project.

Thanx,
turbovx92

tip: use search button.

don't be nervous. rebuilding isn't that bad. just take your time and do EVERYTHING right. there's nothing more heartbreaking than getting your motor all put together and installed only to find out you have to pull it all back apart for something stupid.

best of luck to you.

^^ thanks for reminding me..

set your hp goal and devote ALL your time/money/parts toward that goal and try to not change your mind or it will cost you MORE.

you have alot to learn still. browse the FI section and showcase to see what some ppl are running and what setup they have and once you get a better idea of things you can make better educated choices on your hp goal and how to go about getting there

are you planning on just dropping a turbo on your d15b or are you going to gut it and work on the internals too? cuz that makes a BIG difference in attainable power.

well i already have a stock d15b with a dsm turbo on it. and its only pushing 197hp on 9psi. my plan was to build a engine up and turbo it.

Z6 is basically the same motor, stock cam profiles differ. If the setup in your car is doing just fine then pick up another D15b or Z6 and build one for the amount of power you want it to make.

Building a D16 IS a shortcut. I have no problem with used or china parts, depending on what they are.

If you want all new parts, buy a new car.
