I need your guys help getting my Dx back to somewhat normal driving conditions.

It currently has this

D15b2 with MPFI swap
2.50 custom exhaust
Ebay Header
Ebay Short ram intake
AEM 3 bolt cam gear

Current problem
popping noise from 2200 to about 2700 rpm (thinking might be clogged injectors or fuel filter.)

not enough pickup from 1500-2500 rpm

Looking for a solution. What modifications should I make to return it to as close to stock as possible. I still want I/H/E but should I go back to a stock cam gear or any other suggestions to pick some torque

what is the cam gear for if you don't mind?

maybe timing is off ?

rechecked some things with timing cam and crank are set. I spun the crank two revolutions to make sure the markings were in spec. Gonna check ignition timing tomorrow. Just a question though. When idling the red mark on the crank should match up with the marks on the crank cover, which should be 16* BTDC correct. and when you give it some gas the marks should advanced a little bit right?
