Next time you make chicken noodle soup, add 1-2 hot peppers. Not enough to burn the mouth but enough for a slow warming from inside.
Two cooked chicken breasts diced
1/2 stalk of celery
1/2 bag of shredded carrots from Krogers, was on discount
1 white onion
1 green pepper
6 mini yellow/orange/red peppers
2 serrano peppers
32 oz. low sodium chicken broth
32 oz. water, add more as needed for the noodles
1/2 bag of egg noodles. wide is what I had.
Bring everything except the noodles to a boil and keep a low boil for 20 minutes. Add the noodles, bring back to low boil, cover, turn off heat and allow to set for 20-30 minutes.

After I already had a HUGE (30 oz.) bowl, the pot was to the brim before that.

If I had to do over, I'd bought a second quart of chicken broth. $8-9 in the above recipe, the extra broth would push it to around $10.

12 GOOD SIZED servings, under $1 each. Can of Progresso might have one serving in them now with two sides of broth, why I started making my own. You could cut back on the noodles (I might have overdone it a bit) and used brown rice or some other grain such as barley.

Also it could have been made in a crock pot and the noodles added after 3-4 hours.
