This is off topic but relative so bare with me:

I got a 1977 924 Porsche and did a 944 conversion on it making it a 1986 1/2.

I did the following to the engine and it was a pig.

Head-T/P/P 3 angle valve job and took 10 thousands off
Block-Bored 60 over with forged aluminum pistons and took 10 thousands off.
Took the EFI off and went to duel delorto 40mm side drafts
Jacobs ignition
Bursch headers with 2" straight exhaust.
Lightned flywheel
Elgin cam (I forgot the duration and lift) but it was nasty
and some other odd and ends.

Never did anything to the computer, was this the problem?

I have lost sleep for ten years because of this debachel.

Nope, It was not tuned. Bone stock 1977 ECM for an EFI and so on. The worse thing was it was built when the 5.0 mustang was real popular so my tag said 5ltr etr(Five Liter eater) and it would do nothing of the sort, but it was pretty.

It was actually, It revved like a damn motorcycle, but under a load, it was embarrasing. I was convinced it was a air / fuel mixture problem.....The ECM was never even a point of discussion. That pisses me off, with that being done, I may have actually ran a mustang or maybe not. The sad truth is I will never know. I just burnt $5000.00 on the motor alone and sold the fucker for $1500. (I am a buisness major at heart cant you tell)

Still does, thats why I ask so many questions here. It is just hard to wade throught all of the opinions and BS to hear some irrefuedable facts.

Tuning is the key. I see people running around with untuned turbo setups that just blow up and are slow. Same principle. I knew a guy with a 944, it wasnt too impressive in a drag, but auto-x was its thing. I also know a guy with a rare 968, that thing has a huge 4Cyl in it....3.0L!!
