So my '88 DX failed it's emissions test.

A little history if it matters. It has 181k on it now. Bought it this past march with 179,500. Carfax says it passed emissions last year when it had 177k. No mods, no anything, all stock.

The exhaust test shows this:

Hydrocarbons (HC)
Standards: 0.80
Readings: 0.95

Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Standards 15.0
Readings 15.3

Can what needs to be replaced be figured out by these numbers/test results? O2 sensor and the cat? Car has DPFI.

It's got a new air filter, do you think it could be the fuel filter as well?
I've got a SAFC that I haven't installed yet....could I throw that in and lean it out a bit?
