So about a year ago The Acid Beaver ported my oil pump and ive finally gotten my car running and tuned. So i made 292 hp/262 lbs torque on my last turbo and i drowned the turbo with oil. No restrictor. At the dyno i had huge clouds of smoke coming out the exhaust smelling like burn oil. So i got a new garrett 60-1 and just installed last night, and added a restrictor, and was hoping it will solve the oil drowning, and burning oil out the back.

Still smoking, and im thinking maybe it's my oil weight. I am running e85. When i remove my oil cap, i got this oil that has been bubbled up like a bad head gasket, and it's white not brown. Looks like, condensed milk on the inside of the oil cap which is weird. I'm curiuos if my head is lifting, which i haven't over heated, and I got no extra water in my resevoir. But I HAVE WATER SEEPING THROUGH MY EXHAUST TOWARDS THE BACK WHICH IS REALLY FREAKING WEIRD. I am curious if anyone has some helpful hints for me as i am very frustrated, and just wanna get the car rollin. <3. PLEASE HELP. Thanks

If the oil looks milky white then you have water/coolant mixing with oil. You have: Head lift, blown head gasket, possible cracked block/head, or somehow they are mixing. Sounds to me like head lift then a leaky head gasket. The oil weight is the least of your problems now.

You didn't mention what weight oil you are running.

im running 10w30 right now in south florida, normal temperatures are at 70-86 right now. and 100% humidity if that matters.

I would personally run 10W40, but the quality of oil is the deciding factor. I run 10W-40 on my turbo DOHC ZC here in cold washington state. I would do a compression test and/or a leak-down test, sounds like your engine is hurt. What kind of work was done on the engine?

You probably have a bad oil drain.

You dont want a restictor before your turbo unless its BB and you have explicit instructions to use a restictor.

Oil is the blood of an engine. Restricting it from the hardest working part of your engine is a bad call.

You need to take a look at other reasons why your turbo might be smoking.



As for your milky foam, whens the last time you drove the car for at least an hour at decent speeds? That will evaporate all the moisture from the crank case.

Yea the cars been sitting for maybe 2 weeks, on e85. I read that's my issue that e85 absorbs water and with humidity it's worse. The dohc zc has race engineering pistons eagle rods, stock head. Ported throttle body, 1000cc precision injectors, acl bearings, ported oil pump. And my 60-1 turbo with a go autoworks exhaust system. I'm more than positive it's the e85 that occurring this water. The car sits weeks at a time. I am still going to do. Block tester and see if their are any carbon exhaust fumes in my coolant. Btw the white milkines could be from the water and e85, and it's only under the oil cap, no where else.

As for the restrictor I need one. My ported oil pump is giving too much pressure oil to my turbo. I need volume not pressure. And a restrictor does that at the back of the block.

That's a good point what does your oil drain look like, also what size AN are you using for the feed?

If the milky look is just under the cap, and not when you drain the oil or check the dip stick then that is normal. I noticed that with gasoline engines not just E85, it's just some condensation from sitting for a while. If it shows up in the crankcase then there is issues.

I would drain the old oil (check the color) and put some 10W40 in. Then do a good compression test to make sure the engine is healthy. Is there oil in the charge/intercooler piping? It's normal for some water to come out the exhaust, just dripping out the end but steam is bad.

Also, more pressure = more volume. It's just like fuel pressure, as you increase pressure more fuel is able to flow causing increased volume. I think if you use 3AN feed you shouldn't need a restrictor (unless a BB turbo) at all, even with a ported pump.

i am using a -3an and a -10 return. the return is ok and my feed just like that blew the seals out my last turbo at the dyno. oil even dripped inside my downpipe. I just bought some conventional 20w50, to try it out. if it doesnt like it ill switch to 15/40, or 15/50. remember its really hot in florida, all the time and e85 really takes a toll on the oil.

So much for telling me how your engine is doing. Jackass. Also, I'm glad the porting I did is effective. heh

If you are loosing coolant, then you have a bad headgasket. Time to figure out what is going on with that.

I would never run 20w50 in any Honda car ever. 10w40 is a great choice, but unless you are doing back to back highway pulls, I wouldn't hesitate to run a quality 10w30. E85 runs cooler than straight gasoline. There should be much less thermal load on the engine.

I used 10/40 Matt, I lost your #. Tried email you no reply. The 10/40 came out real watery too. The 20/50 made te car run so much better. The oil has 300 miles and still perfect. Just got a valve float ripping the car yeaterday. Which stinks. I have a replacement head so hopefully I didn't bend any valves and if I did I got some replacement. Matt the car runs so strong. Put an so tranny to rebuild the zc mean while. Made 288hp/255lbs or torque at 14 psi on a garrett 60-1 60 compressor, 48 turbine. When it comes back to life in a couple days, we gonna turn up te boost to 20 lbs. I did a rookie move when racing I let off te throttle too hard and valve floated. Shut my car off like if no compression. Much fun. Hahahah. But yea, real nice car. Beat a mustang 500 and he asked me if I was spraying, he called me a pee shooter. And 2 si's making 270 n/a. Love my 89 killing these mommy and daddy cars. Lol

I always ran 20w/50 in the summer and 10w/40 in winter. Ever since the CRX was new off the showroom floor.

Opened the engine last night. Super bad spun bearing. Piston kissed the head, and the pistons roll pin, also got dented inside. Crank good bye also. Time to build a sohc.

i know the sohc wont be as good as the zc, but i need my car to move. i will always have love for the zc. i will buiuld another. dont worry. just feel like this engine has bad juju.
