I bought a JDM ZC SOHC Dual Carb/IM and Vac. Adv. Dizzy set. from this guy in Singapore. I was going to get a header w/ it but I needed to save some money on the shipping so I left it out of the package. Paid $80.00 for the whole thing. Yeah, Old School. 8)

Hey Toddnos do you think its possible to run a vtec head with carbs and no computer. I was thinking about it a little last night and I think its possible if I used an MSD and an rpm actuator. What do you think. Am I nuts.
I think its definately possible, but your carbs are gonna only have one setting, and you need two for vtec.......so its either gonna run good before vtec, or be set to run good with the vtec lobes.....either way, your not gonna be able to run a sick enough cam for the carbs with a vtec head....I would get the wildest cam possible for a non vtec head.....that with those carbs will bust out mid thirteens with street tires.......the guy who ported my head used to work for PYR. He owned a CRX with dual carbs and a 404 cam or something like that.....
Busted flat thirteens with slicks!!

Get rid of the distributor all together and get a Electromotive Ignition. Get a aftermarket tach with a shift light that you can set - use the signal from the shift light to trigger your VTEC...you can adjust the VTEC point by changing the shift light activation RPM.

I was reading through a thread somewhere, and of course now I cant remember where(old age), that you can use a dizzy from any dx. Not to use the vac advance distributor because it sucked. Funny thing happened today. UPS comes pulling up to my door and brings me a package. Marked from Singapore. I was freaking out because it was like de javu . I open up the box and bingo bango another Honda SOHC zc Dual carb/IM setup. This time I also got the fuel pump and another ZC dizzy. I called the guy up and he said I paid for two. I was like what? I thought I just bought one. No, 2. OK Thanks buddy................click. Hmmm am I dreaming or what. So now I have a spare if I do go through with this vtec/carb project.
My question now is how good is the zc vac.adv. dizzy. It has one plug w/ 2 wires thats it. Or can I gut a DX ditibutor and make it work for my non-vtec Project Junkyard Dog.

I paid $80.00 . And that was with shipping overseas. Im still stumped about the whole deal.
I dont know I might hook you up. I wanna take a look at it first. It looks a little different the way the throttle cable connects the two carbs. Both linkages are connected by a ball bearing mechanism. Looks cool. Ill get it all cleaned up and decide.

I can't imagine that any vacuum advance distributor does not hat weights, springs and an advance plate in it. I know the 1st gen CRX/Ciciv vacuum advance distributor has these somponenets and I have converted them over to make it just a mechanical advance without any problem.

The carbs will deliver more fuel when the vtec hits, as there will be more air passing through them.. Why would there be an issue?
