i have a 2000 civic cx with a d16y7 i am doing the mini-me swap and using a y8 head and intake manifold.

my question is do i need to use a y8 distributor??? or can i use the y7???

They're the same as every mentioned already.

Anyone know what happened to that thread about a D motor running a distributorless ignition system (COP)?

Nope, what I meant is that there was a non D16 running a COP system I can't remember if it was a Y or Z motor but he had converted his system to one that was without a distributor and I'm just curious as to what type of sensor he used. Someone's got to remember and I think Bisi runs a distributorless set-up as well.

i am also swapping out the wireharness for the car to a 99 ex for the vtec and stuff ( free wire harness ) so i should use a y8 dizzy!!! right

is there a real performance benefit from running a dizzy sensor and pencil coils vs traditional setup? I'd imagine they would be more accurate at high rpms, but anybody use them with good results? I was window shopping at aem's site the other day and I came across their pencil coils and thought it would def be a sick ignition setup...

Unfortunetly the other half seem to involve putting a Dodge tranny on a Ford motor and then dropping the combo into an Escort.
