did i screw myself over
Not too long ago, I replaced my transmission and clutch for my zc. i was short on money so i went and bought an oe replacement clutch, some generic brand. its a much improvement from my last transmission since it needed new synchros, old clutch look decent too. my question is did i screw myself by not using a premium clutch for my fairly new tranny. it sounds like its not gripping right when i take off from 1rst gear. no slippage or grinding but should i worry that this clutch will slowly f up my tranny. also i used a really expensive transmission oil, i heard i should have just used like 5w30 motor oil, is using the good tranny/differential oil bad?. i feel dumb asking these questions now instead of before but id still think if i messed up its not too late to fix. thanks.

If you have the clutch that is suppost to go with the engine/tranny combo, you'll be fine. There is a tranny fluid called Syncromesh. I heard Its really good stuff. I dont understand how this clutch will slowly mess up your transmission
I used honda/acura mtf from the dealer. I've heard nothing but the best about it. As for the clutch, as long as its not slipping, or having problems engaging.. you should be just fine..
Honda MTF or Penzoil (GM) Synchromesh are the two top contenders for what should be in your transmission. Today's classes of engine oil don't have the same composition of additives that are required for your transmission function correctly or be reliable.
Does the transmission grind or is just difficult to put into gear? Do you have anything but a stock shifter and shift linkage in your car? Are your engine mounts in good shape?

i just hope you didn't use synthetic.
whats wrong with synthetic fluid in the tranny? I have never done it but i asked the dealer and they said that it should be ok but i dont trust that it should be ok. I would like to know good reasons why not too.
a cheep clutch isnt going to ruin your trans....

As far as tranny fluid, some people run heavy weight synth stuff, some run conventional 5w30, some run Honda MTF...
I, personally, prefer 1/4 Lucas stabilizer and the rest Honda MTF.
do not run synth motor oil, trust me. It does not have the proper amount or type of friction additives and i've found that it makes for very easy grinds, esp. with older transmissions. A heavy synth MTF might be ok, i'm not sure for longevity, but others seem to love it.
the 1/4 lucas stablizer and rest Honda MTF seems to work very well w/ used trannies. For new and/or factory-spec rebuilt trans, use straight MTF.
a clutch cant screw up a tranny unless the throwout bearing locks up and eats through the pressure plate fingers and those launch off and put a hole in the bellhousing.. but thats rare.. stock clutch's are fine
like many other people have said, using a OEM cheap replacement clutch wont hurt anything. Thats what i have with my SI tranny and ZC motor, roughly 15k miles put on it, many street races, many burnouts, 35+ 1/8 mile track runs and lots of grabing 2nd gear and baking the tires, and dosnt slip at all..it even chirps 3rd
