Searched for a while with no luck. No one it seems has asked regarding emissions (or search function fails me).

After completing my rebuild and enjoying a fresh engine. I believe it's time for another upgrade.

I have a spare Y8 cam lying around and want to get it reground to a 272.

The car will be tuned via an obd-1 ecu.

However, every other year in WA, I need an emissions test. This wouldn't be a problem if the car didn't have use the original ecu (obd-2) for testing.

Car is a 1996 Honda Civic EX.

Will the car be able to run well enough on a stock ecu to pass emissions?

Would it help to raise the idle up to, say, around 1k rpm?

Thanks in advance.

iirc, WA does idle check with emissions. if so, then your screwed. if they dont, then you might get away with it. however, i doubt you will. especially since your going to use the oem ecu during the testing.

short hand = fail, dont try it. use oem cam.

btw: every year? damn, at least in cali its every 2 for older cars.. longer, iirc, for newer cars.. weak sauce.
