my buddy is getting a del sol for his chick and they are going to do a motor swap whats the best swap for it either turbo or no turbo they arent sure what they want to do but im thinking this her first build just na would be just fine

any info will help

is the motor blown? does is NEED to be swapped?

D16 will be fun (if boosted) and good on gas...

B16/18 is an easy swap, decently quick n/a...

B20's = fast and CHEAP

H/F are a bit of a pain to swap, but are SICK with a H2D or H2B kit...

K....if you have the money...

I'd personally like to see an R18 swap...


LOTS of variables, mostly depends on what you want out of the car and how much you want to spend...

It would help if we knew whats in it right now. If its for some chick, and its not vtec already, just do a mini me on it.(assuming the bottom end is good) If you want to swap a whole motor, get a complete d16z6. I think a b16 would be overkill for a girl.

he said they are swapping it out no matter what so idk he is new to honda and i have never messed with del sols so ... but money will prob be tight so cheap and buil over time and more then likly turbo so any sugestions

i'd say just drop a z6 in it, but i wouldnt get my hopes up as far as it been quicker cuz del sol's are heavy as f***, ^^^^blueridge did a h22 swap on one, dyno tuned and is still slow as fuck (like 9's in a 1/8), but a z6 is a reliable way to go, and u can turbo it at low boost with minor mods

lol my friends GF is building a B16 for boost they want massive boost so i think a B16 isnt over kill for a girl.

or an a2 depending on the year. depending on their capabilities, an A6 botom end with either a Y8 or Z6 head would be fairly cheap to do. thats what im doing in mine

think al sol came w/ a3 not a2 .. anyway if the sol alrdy came w/ b16, mite as well stick w/ it...
just swap out only if theres somethign wrong w/ the engine or got a 1.5..

96-97 came with the a2, 94-95 had a3

Del Sols arent really that heavy.. They're not going to be as light as a cx/vx eg hatch no, but they weigh about as much as an ex of the same year..

and stock for stock sols out handle...the weight is in the right places,

not comparing handeling to a crx, but it has a lower roof line and wider stance than one, along with a hatch.
