DC Header Fitment question?

833 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  N20ntegra
My Girlfriend has a 97 lx civic with the d16y7 motor. I want to know if a 98 Civic Ex DC sports header will fit. The whole d-series engine is foreign to me compared to the B/K series. I am looking forward to going a lil way on this engine though. Some one reccomended a Gude cam for this engine. Does anyone have any feedback on them?

Yes, it will fit. Actual fitment wont be a problem at all, but you might have to do something with one of the O2 sensors, as there wont be anywhere to put it, and you will probably throw a CEL without it.

I have a Y7, and have a DC header on it, but for some reason my motor only has 1 O2 sensor, despite the manual showing 2!

Im sure someone who has 2 will be able to tell you how to hook it up. I think you can get somehit like an O2 simulator to stop the CEL showing.
i dont know about the y7 in Europe but here in the US the y7 has the cat on the header. so you will need to cut the exhaust for the y8 header. then move the wires.

We have the cat on the header aswell. Just for some reason only 1 O2 sensor and that is on the cat. So when i fitted my DC header, it was as simple as relocating the sensor to the end of the header, where the bung is. If im thinking right, that would be the place the second O2 sensor would usually plug in isnt it?

I missed the bit about the Gude cam in the first post. They seem to get mixed reviews on here, or so ive seen. Another place to look at is www.deltacam.com ive run there 272 grind and its defintely worth the money. They do more aggressive grinds aswell, jsut depends how extensive your build is going to be.
youll need to pick up an ex exhaust complete with a cat for everything to fit right
and gude sucks ass, they lie about hp claims horribly... go with a delta cam
I see the delta is favored here. I am seriously looking into their 272 cam. Also does anyone know of an 02 simulator? If I had one I could run the exhaust straight back with no problem to the skunk 2 muffler. Just a shot in the dark.
