I am new to tuning. If i knew a year ago what i know now i wouldnt have ended up with a d17a1, but thats the cruel hand fate has dealt me. I dont wanna completely swap out the engine. I have done a lot of independent research but i would like to know what you experienced folk think about making that engine get power. I'd like to know what you would suggest for my engine.

well i've spent the last few months searching for aftermarket parts that would work and ive found all the regular things. You dont have the choice of one manufacturer this way but all the individual components are available.
I was also wondering if anyone knows about swaping the head for a v-tech head or something to that effect...... is it a) possible, b) cost effective, c) not a complete waste of time

I've been trying to locate a pic of a D17a1 head gasket. No luck though. Most of the honda parts dealers online show pics of D15 and D16 head gaskets, however no D17's . I am curious to see how similar they are. I know we have talked about the internals somewhere in here, but "DOH!!"I cant find them. I would also like to get a look at the exhaust gaskets if anyone can locate pics. :beer:

I have heard from several sources the d17 head will not bolt to any d15 or 16 block.

I don't know for sure, but I had a quick look at a d17 and it looks like you may be able to mount a distributer on the head. With some machine work to the end of the cam a traditional distributer may work.

Check to see if "older" d-series intake and exhaust will bolt to the head. If it does, use it.

Swap out the ecu and engine harness from an obd2 car to be emissions compliant.

I am not sure if ANY of this will work... its just a brain fart.

well like i've mentioned b4, i'm new to this all, but i realy spend a lot of time trying to learn about everything. can someone pls give me the jist of what the differences between a returnless fuel system and the alternative (returning fuel system?) is.
i was also wondering about the 1.7l displacement and is there anything i can do to take advantage of this...
