Curious question from my engine research....

From what Ive seen... the rod journal width of the d17a rods is more narrow than that of normal d16 rods? Correct?

You can machine LS rods to fit a d16 crank? Correct?

Would it be possible to machine LS rods down enough to fit a d17a crank? Or is that just way to narrow or not possible.

Crower d17a rods are rediculasly expensive....just like the d16b2/7 rods.

Just a curious question....Im bored but was pondering this.

What are you looking to do? I made 270whp on stock D17 rods with polished beams and ARP rod bolts. Granted, it was with a 7300 rpm revlimit.

The idea was to build a d16a6 block with a d17a crank and vitara pistons...for turbo or a JRSC.

But Crower d17a rods are rediculas...and your stock d17a rods took 270, so LS rods wouldnt be much better. And if Carillo comes out with d17a rods as said above then I wouldnt have to worry about trying to fit say, d16 Eagle H-beams onto a d17a crank.

This is just something I was considering for my 97 Civic...which oddly you posted above with a similer setup already in it, at least according to your sig.
What did you think of the setup?
