Ok so couple questions. I was adjusting my timing belt as I noticed it was off a tooth.

1. Do you align the marks with the timing belt tensioned on the header side of the motor?(counter clockwise)
2. Seems the cam mark is 1/8-1/4 inch off the mark when the crank mark is lined up with the lower cover pointer. Either way I go, if I move the belt over the opposite direction 1 tooth to adjust, then it’s off 1/8-1/4 inch in the opposite direction. is this normal? Either way I go I can’t align them exactly.

Help. I’ve searched but could not find a definitive answer. Thanks.

You should turn it the same direction it spins so counter clockwise, tension on the header side. this would also be how you set the tensioner pulley

Before somebody open a can of flamethrower at you, This doesn't belong in the DIY section. It should go in the Engine building section I belived, you will get a better overall response there for sure.
