I have a 94 civic coupe ex with a D16Z6 w00t! heh anyways im having a overheating issue, ive replaced my thermostat that didnt work and ive bleed the system about 3 times. Now i NEEDED :stresses the word needed: NEEEEEEDED to get to work, so quick fix, i took out the thermostat (for now) and guess what, no more over heating!! Until you get on a hill :uh: Then that temp gauge wants to sky rocket and bust a damn spring. as soon as i turn the heat on in the car, that same sky rocket up sky dives right back down almost by the C line ( guessing because my thermostat is out now) I'm stuck. On the bright side i can drive to work the long way and skip the hills and no overheating issue occurs!! Although i really need to fix it its unsafe. so If anyone can help me on this issue it would be awesome!

thanks,

tom

No but im taking my civic to an engine specialist next month, im dropping it off for 4 weeks, hes rebuilding the whole engine for me so im ready for turbo, hes really good and cheap too the only problem is he doesnt tune cars, so looks like im gonna be rolling around on 1psi of boost until i save up the 1,000 bucks after this build to get it tuned. :bash:

and by 1,000 bucks i mean tune + them installing Hondata for me =P

Pistons, Valves , Cams, Cam gears, retainers, springs (100% Crower!!!! besides the pistons i think he told me to use wiseco), getting boar'd ported and polished, all new gaskets for everything. 750cc Injectors, Walbro 255lph-HP fuel pump, Skunk 2 pro Intake manifold, skunk 2 Throttle Body. and with the turbo(i dont remember what turbo dont ask, i did however told him i wanted it to spool up fast so a small one running high boost would be nice, i think thats what he picked out for me. i just gave him a price range and told him make me fast LOL) setup he picked out for my price bracket he told me he believes if i tune it right i can see over 300WHP Easy. without a doubt. Well see how true that is. i donno i heard its hard to make power with a D Series but im taking the challenge! lol this is my first walk around the park so i have no idea what power he is sticking in this thing, maybe someone can school me with the parts i listed what to expect

you need your thermostat in there cause that slows down the flow in order for coolent to cool down. just change your thermostat. make sure you get all the air out. if your fan is kicking on the your coolant temperature sensor is good. probbly just your thermostat got stuck closed

i dont think its a head gasket, i have not one bit of oil leaking from the head at all, my exhaust is clear, im thinking a clog in the engine where the coolant goes maybe? i donno like i said my buddy is coming over tomorrow, and hes gonna make sure its flushed the correct way.

*edit*

Also, im not losing coolant either

is your timing correct this will make an engine run hot.wouldnt be a bad idea to put a new water pump and timing belt in it.then you kill two birds w/one stone.you are going to have to put new ones in when you do the rebuild any how.usually it has to be off a toooth or two though i believe to get hot.and flussh the rad system.check the oil for milk or do a comp test to see of its a HG.prob not if you are still driving it and it isnt breaking up any when it gets warm.usually the center two will be low on comp if the HG is bad.(all ive seen anyhow)

So after a long long rainy day and no garage. the clouds parted and i had some sunshine =D we flushed my car for honestly 30 minutes!!

Drained out all the water, put new coolant in, drove up and down the biggest fking hill i could find in my area for about an hour. No more overheating =D:willy_nilly: now i just have to go buy another thermostat so this way when i turn my heat on, the car temp gauge doesnt look like the car is SHUT OFF :hammer:

i ran a garden hose it in for about 10 minutes with the top hose off and let everything flow on the ground, the water came out almost black and then went clear, im guessing clog was the answer.
