i've been searching the forums for a while.....700+ threads....(this is an awesome forum) maybe i'm just blind, but i haven't found much on swapping a D16Y7 for a D16Z6, just bits and pieces, and a lot on mini-me swaps.

i'm thinking of swapping (complete swap: motor/tranny) my Y7 for a Z6. i know i'll have to go OBD2 to OBD1, no prob, a p28 and a wiring conversion harness will do. (?)

i want to do the swap for obvious reasons....OBD1 tunability and simplicity, plus Z6 aftermarket support, not to mention i can get a Z6 swap for cheap.

the concerns i have are for any other:
wiring (sensors, plugs, etc.) any other wiring harness mods.?
iacv's
which intake mani to use (y8 or Z6)
distributor

will this just pretty much bolt up and plug and play? i know i'll have to resolve the vtec wiring.....and the knock sensor won't be a prob. because i'll be going obd1 to 2.

will my wiring harness (engine bay to engine) plug up? have to be modded? or will the ECU wiring conversion do?

anyone have any experience with this type of swap? any suggestions or comments?

anything would be appreciated!!!

I put a d15b vtec in a 97 dx. Everything plugs up fine, just run the z6 distributor and change the dual plugs to your single. I converted to obd1 and used a p28 and it ran great.

Y7 to Z6

right on man.....thanks for the info.

is there a reason why you had to run the Z6 distr. instead of the D15b's?

anybody else........???? someone else must have done something similar!
