Does the d16y8 pistons fit on a d17 block???

And what about the d16y8 rods on d17 block???

My friend blow his d17 engine and another friend has stock y8 pistons/rods.

Does this work??

The rods are the same, but the Y8 pistons are way to tall to be used.

No problem. If it's getting rebuilt, he can use GX pistons and shoot for 12:1 compression. Might as well make it worth the time and trouble.

Yeah, he's going to need something to tune it with after a 2 point bump in compression.

Rods aren't the same, the big end on the D17 is thinner.

You'd need to get the D16 rods milled down and rebalanced.
