hey okay so i have a honda civic hx, its had two owners the first one i dont really know about but he swtiched the stock motor from the hx i believe with the d16y7 with a y8 head also, not to sure on the stock motor of the hx i believe its the d16y5 with vtec-e correct me if im wrong please, well anyways ive done a rebuild on it but i believe i need a different computer and a better tranny than the stock hx, gears are short @4000 rpm in fifth gear im only hitting like 80-85mph, also which computer should i replace the p2n(vtec-e) with my buddy told me the one from an honda ex which is basically the motor i have so p28 or p2p, trying to get max performance. havent done turbo yet but considering it in the future when the money rolls in.

Modifications: Headers, CAI, 3 Exhaust pipe, Purple hornie glasspak, basic shit,
not sure what to upgrade next will post better pics in a few ive recently painted the car too its no longer red. heres a pic after the rebuild.

I think you need the P2P ECU, either OBD2A or B, depending on what year chassis you have (99-00 is OBD2B). Is your intake manifold a Y8 as well?

First off.
What are you trying to do?
Have a working HX setup or Convert to and EX setup?

There is a guide on here for converting a hx to an ex. Look that up and i will help alot.
Next post the block code and the head code.
This will help find out what you have in the car now.

A p28 will need to be tune into to work to its fullest.
a p2p ecu will work if you have a y8 head and setup.

I think that intake is from a jdm d16y vtec head, which should basically be jdm y8 intake manifold. When I ordered up my d16y vtec head that is the intake mani that came on it. Has the egr located on the mani.
what about tranny should i upgrade?

the head says p2j-6 97 on right side and has this number stamped into it 707051478

intake says p2m-ao 970618 on side

So this is what you have.

A hx intake manfiold. (The egr valve gives that away)
The head seems to be a y8 (^as said)
The block is a y7 ( stamp)
the trans is a dx (at lest that's what I remember s40 for dx and s20 for ex)

You need to go to the pass side kick panel and check the ecu code.

OK your need to find a p2p y8 ecu.
You need to convert the 5 wire o2 sensor to a 4 wire sensor.

You can add the s20 transmission for short gears.

And just search the site hx to ex.
There is a few post on it worth reading.

The manifold is fine.
Ecu is needed
The trans doesn't matter. It will be a bit quicker tho with a s20.
