Battery is good, starter is good, there is gas, have not checked compression. there is spark. cranks over no problem. it has sat for a while outdoors but ran just fine beforehand. one thing i should mention is that sometime after a set of turn overs, there is a small sort of "poof" or sound of air being pushed out or sucked in of the intake. almost like a back fire but extremely subtle.

I was thinking possibly crank positioning sensor went off a bit or maybe it jumped time, this thinking is from the poof that i hear.

edit > but i dont know how it could jump time if it wasn't being ran or used.

Have you trouble shot or just assumed all was well and it just wont start?

How do you know the battery is dead?

Do you have spark?

You sure you have fuel pressure?

Explain how you checked for fuel and spark.
Everyone says they check but yet they didnt.
If it sat for a long time it's possible it could be the dizzy cap, or coil. They like to rust out when cars just sit.
Also you haven't said how long it sat. The gas could be bad.

Really need some more information
