Hey how's it going everyone. This is my first post on this forum so any and all help will be greatly appreciated. I drive a 1998 Honda Civic HX 1.6L. It is a 5spd also. I have put an AEM intake, header/exhaust, stage 3 clutch, and short throw shifter. I am trying to get it quicker, but without doing major internal upgrades. I have been reading some of these forums and doing some research and so far it seems like I should get a 96-00 EX tranny for its quicker acceleration. I am also thinking of putting a small turbo on the car just for that little extra umph. I am open to all suggestions and plans of actions I should take on this build.

yea the ex tranny will make a difference and you can get one locally for around $150 or less and turbo will help your top end. when your not in boost it will fill almost the same as now.

Yea I was thinking the EX tranny would be a solid choice after the research just getting some others opinions on it. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of turbo I should be looking into? My friend says he has one at his work that he thinks came off an Eclipse, but doesn't know what kind it is. Also thinking about buying a full rebuild kit just so everything will be fresh with the engine.

If it is a stock eclipse turbo you will need an adapter plate with the turbo manifold you buy.. dsm turbo flanges are not a conventional t3 flange. Your stock internals are good for about 210 whp. . That would be a giant gain beings that your car right now has maybe 100 whp.. the dsm turbo will work but it will take a little extra work typically.

Depends on how much money you got you could just go with a go autoworks street kit.
It will max out the stock block as far as power.
Other then that. Just set a power goal and price goal.
Then. Search around and get part by part.
Check the show case threads for what others have done and learn why they did what they did and what the out come was.

I recomand a t3 turbo since its easier to find stuff that will fit.

Thank for the info. The Go Autoworks street kit looks pretty tempting. Only $2K for the whole kit. Have get my EX tranny first then save up for that turbo kit and rebuild kit. Should be fun to play around with then.

i say go for the turbo, i boosted my 96 hx d16y5 and it was awesome. lasted 2 years with not on problem until my car was rear ended, now i own a 99 civic ex sedan and its boosted. if anyone comes in here and tells you an hx cannot be boosted dont listen to them, just make sure you dont cheap out if you do go turbo and definitely research tuners in your area before making a decision to turbo.
