Hi members.
Just sharing some experience I had with the "broken" A9 I replaced the other day.

The old engine

Ready to drop the old engine

Dropped it on a steel plate and slide it out.

Where I got the new engine, this is about 10% of the engines that this place has

New engine on the crane

Surprised by how clean the import engine is!

Engine installed

The only problems I had was the the import engine injectors were stuck so I swapped over the old ones.
And the rev counter did not work with the ZC distributor so I also swapped it.
Everything else was 100% straight swap

You can do the engine swap at home no problem. As you saw you can remove the engine without removing the gearbox by removing the head and few other stuff and dropping the engine to the ground. The sub assembly is not heavy so you can do it on your own.
