Sup guys, I posted on here a while ago as I was building this motor, actually this one came out good (its my second motor) and I'm having trouble getting the numbers I want out of it..

so spec wise..

d16z6 block /crank
eagle/vitara 75.5mm
ARP studs
1000cc injectors
Skunk2 IM
OEM HG
hallman boost controller
stock y8 head for now.

precision SC61 turbo 60 trim .63ar
3 inch hood exit
tial wastegate

I timed the motor as a y8 (after countless reading on this forum and HT)

I read that if you have the y8 cam and y8 cam gear, you basically time as a y8 motor...

ok I did that and I went to the dyno, tuner was only able to pull 230hp/220tq on 93 octane, and said I needed an adjustable cam gear to offset the crankshaft differences .. aren't z6 and y8 same deck height?

regardless I have an adjustable cam gear now, I should easily be pulling 300-350hp on this set up

what do you guys think?

Yes same deck height, I've played with this combo of block and head.

You may pick up a little up top with an adjustable gear with stock y8 cam.

ANd when using an adjustable cam gear most are for z6 cams not y8 so you have to offset 4.5deg to get it right then work from there.

See http://www.d-series.org/forums/engine-building/41363-y8-cam-w-z6-sprocket-z6-cam-w-y8-sprocket.html
Thanks for the response, its just strange how its advertised as a y8 adjustable cam gear, so I'm thinking, 0* is just right, guess I'm going to have to advance 4.5* and work from there, thank you again!
