Hello I've been on this site for quite a while mainly just scavenging all the information that's on here. After finally blowing a head gasket on my 99 civic a month back, i felt it's the perfect time to pull the trigger on a new project!

Goal is 350-400HP with a pretty standard cookie cutter vitara build.

This is the car when i first picked it up about a year ago. Pretty much looks the same besides i removed the window visors and took off the pin striping. Also has proper coil overs, it had cut springs when i first got it.

Tonight we got the motor pulled and transmission off and put on the stand. Got most of the motor stripped down, tomorrow i have the day off and will work on getting the block bare and taken down to the machine shop.

Parts so far
Vitara 75.5mm & P2P Rods
NRP Rings
Ported P08 Head From Jun (jvtec8k)
King Bearings
y7 oil pump(ported)
GMB Water Pump
GMB Tensioner
Gates Timing Belt
Stock polished crank

Still lots of undecided decisions to come,
Any advice or criticism welcome, more pics to come!

Little update. Slow progress but got block to machine shop. So should have it back within couple days. Other than that i've been dealing with Jun and bought a ported head off of him. Just got it in the mail today so pretty stoked about that. Ports look sick, Definitely recommend hitting him up. Will upload more pictures of the port work later.
Also bought ACL RACE bearings off of HPTautosports only to wake up with an email today saying they were out of stock and that i would be getting a refund. So still gotta find a place to buy some bearings. May just cheap out and buy some standard ACL or Kings. Crank got polished so shouldn't have to worry about them not meeting clearances. Although the oiling passages on the stock y7 crank worry me a bit.

Picked up a pretty cool intake manifold if i can say so myself. Blocks done notching and I'm thinking my y7 girdle won't need notching with my i-beams. Hoping to start assembly sunday.

Looks like a good start, with Jun's head in there you should have a smart runner. ;)

Sweet another 99-00 boosted sedan, it looks pretty clean. I want 300hp in mine but probably will never build the block so 222whp is good for now

Don't go to deep or to wide. The first notched looks more than enough

So haven't posted any updates for a while but all is well and the build is progressing!! I just picked up a pretty nice find atleast in my opinion. I found a used Edelbrock turbo kit off craigslist. Complete kit all the way down to edelbrock manifold and fuel rail. Turbo is in pretty good shape with minimal radial shaft play. It's only a GT28r but hoping should reach my goals of about 300whp on e85.

One thing i do need for sure is new couplers and clamps. Kit seems to have sat for a while. Couplers are old and half the clamps were missing and was put together with Zip ties lol. Also I plan to run new turbo oil and coolant lines, the rubber is pretty old and rotted. It came with the adapter for the feed for the turbo but it is an oil filter housing plate rather than T-ing into the oil pressure sending unit. So some advice on which i should use for this BB unit would be great. Overall I'm really happy, i'm still deciding and looking for a transmission. My ARP headstuds just came in from lightning motorsports so i should have my head on and motor complete this week unless i decide to buy cam and springs

Most oil sandwhich plates feed unfiltered oil, I think the golden eagle plate feeds filtered. The oil pressure sensor port feeds filtered oil. I just installed a stainless line that runs from the oil sensor port to the firewall where it meets a T on my car last night.

Nice build so far, I want that intake manifold!

Thanks man, yeah i did i kinda figured out it would feed unfiltered oil, and with a new motor going in imagine there will be some crap in the oil and don't want that to go through the turbo, so just going to go with oil pressure feed.

UPDATE
So i got the ARP Head Studs As you can tell. Had to get a custom kit from Lightning Motorsports because of my y7/z6 combo.

http://postimage.org/

I decided to go with an OEM head gasket as the quality of these are just so good, also replaced the dowel pins because the machine shop lost mine haha.

Shits and giggles, i mocked up intake and turbo, Just sitting on there as i still don't gaskets for either. Going with thermal for intake, but will any cheap aluminum gasket work for exhaust? Or just buy OEM not much of a price difference, so probly just answered my own question. Lol

Big surprise coming in the next week or so though!!

Coming along good.
It should be done in no time.
Dont forget the other parts for boost. Fuel management.
I just bought hondata s300. Should be here in no time! :)
Still looking for injectors, haven't decided what i'm going to go with, looking for 1000cc high imp. as i don't want to run a resistor box.
