Calesta, I work at John Eagle Honda. the "oval piston" is not visible to the naked eye. I cant see it and the micrometer I have is too small to get readings of the piston. If you want I can post a pic up of the piston.Calesta said:Awesome info. Can you tell us exactly what's supposed to be "oval" about the pistons too? That's another mystery that nobody really knows the answer to.
By the way- which dealership do you work at? I grew up in Houston, and I'm up in Austin right now. I'm curious.

Thanks ED9... I just wonder where exactly they're supposed to be oval. If you're not getting any out of round readings on a mic, it's got to be a direct fit in a standard D series 75mm bore, right?ED9ory said:Calesta, I work at John Eagle Honda. the "oval piston" is not visible to the naked eye. Crank journels are a differant sizePerfectionist519 said:According to the piston comparo page, D17 pistons have a 27mm compression height.. D16's seem to be somewhere around 30mm.
If the D17 rod length is 140mm (compared to D16 137mm), I would assume that you could use D17 rods and pistons in a D16, and better the rod/stroke ratio from 1.52 to 1.55.
