D15Z6 SOHC VTEC-E
bore: 75 mm
stroke: 84,5 mm
capacity: 1493 cm3
max power: 114hp (84Kw) at 6500 rpm
max torque: 134 Nm at 5200 rpm
fuelsystem: multipoint Honda PGM-FI
head code: P2J-6

The bore is the same, but the stroke is lower. The RL is the same. The DH on the D15 is 207.45. 212 on the D16. The RS on the D15 is higher than the D16.

D16Z6
bore:75mm
stroke:90
DH:212
RL:137
capacity:1590
CR:9.2:1
RS:1.52
HP/TQ:125/106

You can try to put the vitaras in there, but the top of the piston may go higher than the deck.

sorry can you just tell me what RL, DH, RS means, may help me search abit more info. im going to be putting the d16z6 head on, when i do would it make a difference using a thicker metal headgasket with vitara pistons?
if not what pistons and rods options are out there for these engines, must be something i just cant seem to find it.

RL = Rod length
DH = Deck height
RS = Rod / Stroke ratio

you don't have to change pistons to make mini me on d15z6...

jdm... here one link for info about ek3 minime: http://members.home.nl/fred.clerx/

emh is better have a holland friend to translate maybe ;-)
this guy made 150,5 hp without changing heads. its the d15z6 head with d16 parts.

i'll post his list when i find it.

btw, if you want any translation send me pm i'm from holland

cheers for the abbreviations meaning.

i know you don't have to change the pistons and rods to do a mini me but i would like to have a better vtec hence changing to the z6 head and eventually will be running turbo once ive got the most i can from NA so pistons and rods would be a good idea to do at the same time to save taking it apart twice, plus then i have the time to play with compression ratios and headgasket sizes.
any chance using a slightly larger headgasket with vitaras or other pistons and eagle rods would work, has anybody tried this before?
i just want to know my options really so i dont run a turbo on stock parts and cause big damage.

I read for this engine that stock parts can hold on 200 hp, even if you put turbo.
With NA is difficult get 200 hp with your engine.

jdm ek, where are you from? i'm in the same proces of building my d15z6 to its max potention NA, then turbo it.

if you add the following parts from a d16 you wil have a noticable better vtec, it actually wil be a d16z6 but with 100cc less.

the guy that made 150,5 hp used the following:

d16y8 cam
d16y8 "valvebridge" (dont know if this is the correct english word)
d16y8 shift
d16y8 intake manifold
b16 Throttle body
p28 ECU
ITR injectors
S8G gear box
full exhaust

the 150,5 hp is the most i've seen out of a d15z6 so far.

i'm also very curious in which rods and pistons will fit, and it is possible to make the vitaras fit, since they have really good reviews

im from england. a friend of mine just made 133hp from just an induction kit and full exhaust system, he got the same hp gain as i did from my 1.4 d series last year.
i have a very long list of parts and the only things missing i think are a set of pistons and conrods for it, thats the only things im having problems finding so im considering having some forged kits specially made by a local vendor on my local forum.

i think i can make more than 150hp from my d15z6, ive done alot of research and the mini-me alone should take me to 130hp, but when i get the z6 head im going to have the following done before it goes on:
z6 head port and polished
skunk2 cam, valves, springs, retainers
aem tru time cam gear
along with this i will be adding a skunk2 inlet manifold, skunk2 62mm throttle body, j's racing carbon induction kit, skunk2 megapower exhaust with funkypower racing manifold and dc sports decat pipe. i will get the p28 ECU, may try the itr injectors with a walbro fuel pump.
im interested to hear your views bobobob, if you have msn maybe we could talk further into the possibilities for the d15z6.

well with doing al that word you should get more out of it then the 150 i stated. That guy got those numbers with al OEM parts and a good tune

but you are swapping the head for a d16z6 head?

yes im going to swap for the z6 head as the cams for it are slightly more powerful from what ive seen and the z6 head standard will take it from 114 to 130 without doing anything else so its a good base, and it also means i can be having the work done on it and installing the new valvetrain while my car is running.
will you be sticking with the stock head or changing to the z6 aswell?

That is very expensive NA tunning .
With full exhaust and CAI you have aproximately 130 hp.
I have the same engine and I'm also very curious which rods and pistons will fit.
I researched and can't find any supplier who have rods and pistons kit for this engine (75 mm x 84,5 mm).

Maybe somebody can make this kit for us (I'm first interested)?

it will be expensive but im planning on keeping the car for good so im going to take my time on it especialy as the engine ive just dropped in is extremly low mileage so i know will last me a long time.
ive got in touch with a vendor on my local forum which specialises in customs cnc machined parts etc, when i get a reply i will let you know if they are able to make some, ive enquired about having forged pistons and rods made up, hopefully they might be able to do it.

i will be sticking to the stock head, after changing to another (chipped) ecu, it will terminate the E in the vtec-E.

let me see a complete list of what you plan on doing!?
