I am building a EF I have a D15b2 block with a D16y8 head.
I have the engine together and in the car already.
I ended up using a gates water pump kit with y8 timing belt.
When i went to time the engine it looked ok but I assumed i
could compensate with the dizzy if i had an issue ( I was wrong)

I got the car to turn on but It sounds like timing is bad bkus when you
try to give it gas you can hear the engine began to bog down.

So I've read in a bunch of different places saying I would need to
get an adjustable cam gear the set it advanced by 4.75 degrees

I just want to know if anyone had done this swap and fixed their issue
with a adjustable cam gear of maybe a z6 cam gear? I dunno Please
let me know

Thanks for your input I did find some people saying they used the z6 cam gear and a adjustable cam gear. The only thing is those post are out dated maybe somebody has more information instead of going off of what people did 14 years ago..

One thing I did learn is D15b7 and b2 are the same lol

it's not bs. we have smog testing for a reason, if you live in LA you know how bad the air quality is, and carbon monoxide is slowly putting holes in our ozone layer.

but anyways,
use the y8 hg
y8 timing belt
get an adjustable cam gear or y7 cam gear to correct timing
since you are converting to mpfi, might as well go obd1 and run vtec properly
an obd0 dizzy will not fit an obd1 harness, the b7 dizzy (obd1) will fit the y8 head

the actual "smog" testing you should pass if your o2 sensor, cat, etc are working. i think the only part you might fail is when they jump your ecu or visual, since the d15b2 is a dpfi and they see 4 injectors.

I understand what it says but are suppose to advance or retard the timing if so by how much?
some people say you can you the B2 gear some people say B7 gear some people say Y7 gear.

I didn't know the staff member's were rude. I don't understand what your issue is. Maybe I didn't read
it right but geez man you don't have to be jerk about it. Have you ever done a Mini Me swap they are
confusing and a lot of people say different things. But hey thanks for taking the time out of your day to
make me feel smarter (y)

and yep, what people did the last 14 years must be totally wrong.

1/2 tooth cam timing error, get a Y7/Y8 cam gear or set your cam gear at 5 degrees, the zero everything at TDC.

Yea bro. I bought the car a year ago for a hundred bucks from a elderly man that just had a stroke and couldn't driver manual anymore. I have another 99 civic that i boosted and the block cracked so I did a conversion of obd2 to obd0 and man that was the most stressful thing ever. Now I am going to pass inspection and then turbo it on 9 psi on e54 im aiming for 220 hp 220 hp...

Even tho I might get shit for it I do have a youtube channel where im trying to document my build check it out if you like...
