i saw a d15b non vtec with a hole in the back of the block for the knock sensor ;;;what year is this and engine spec

obd2 i am assuming are usually 1996 and up (subject to correction) i was looking at the d15 engine list but not sure which one is this

wait no nevermind my last post...

i thought you had a jdm d15b

i'm not sure if they made a non vtec 1.5 in obd2, i would lean toward no, but i could be wrong

show us pictures of this "hole"

would try to get one but its the same postion on the back of the block as the y8 i also try screwing the knock sensor in and it fit

okay so i forgot about the 96-97 del sols...

they were still an EG chassis and still used the vtec engines d15b8, d15z1,
and the non vtec d15b7

so there you are

nope the 96/97 del sol only came with a d16y7 or d16y8
or of course the b16a2 del sol vtec
there were no usdm d15's offered after 95
any d15 engine post '95 is a non-usdm block
any d15 engine labeled "d15b" is a non-usdm block (87-01)
if it has a knock sensor then it was made in japan in '95 or later
dont forget usa is behind 1 year from japan market
my obd2 d15b head is stamped '95
just like vtec came out in '91....(92 usa)

what you saw was a jdm d15b with basically a y7 head on it
million dollars says that if you look at the head stamp on exhaust side it says P2P
i bet it had the y7 intake manifold too...with the air filter on top...

is the hole right next to the oil pressure sensor????

if so then that is the hole for the temp sensor

yea it has a y7 manifold ;;;;;;;;;;so i am guessing the spec are like all the other nonvtec d15

is that true? cuz if thats the case my block is jdm... meaning i can get tuner toy rods:confused:

i guess would have lost that million on the head it says P2A-7 AND ON THE BLOCK P2A

not to dig up old bones.... but I tore into a "JDM" obd2 non-vtec motor.....oil pan stamped P2A, block code D15B, piston code P2A, head code P2A-6 98, intake same as usdm D16Y7, rods were standard d16 design (compared to D16z6)

only thing different to me was the P2A pistons were only slightly dished when compared to D16z6 and D16y8 oem pistons, but not as flat as D15B7 pistons....reassembled, installed known D15B P08 head and cam, D16y8 IM. tuning via Uberdata I've found this setup is using more ign and fuel and is quite snappy @ changeover ( even with it set @4200)

....to the point....havent found any info concerning the piston code for specs...i.e. the actual piston measurement specs to determine my c/r...was thinking of adding 50 trim T3 to the mix but wanted to see how unwise it was before I did it....
