hello to all. i am trying to restore a 1988 honda crx HF, i recently thought i found a 8 valve cylinder head for the vin8 (6th digit) car... but, the order was cancelled 3 days later...stating they were out of stock...im left with a totally rebuild short block with no head...
BIGGER PROBLEM i live in california and have SMOG laws to deal with.
BIG?
can anyone tell me if i drop a 16 valve head (like out of a 1.5L dx car)on my d15B block will it cause me a problem getting the car smogged???

i was told by one honda shop near me that it would not pass NOX on the smog check because the 16 valve would draw in a lot more air.

please help!!!!

I have zero clue about smog and NOX shit but if too much air flow is a worry for these test look into a Z1 head possibly.

Are you in USA? check ebay, couple hundred bucks later you have a rebuilt, though cheaply, head that should work for you.

d15z1 head will bump compression too much for a stock ecu to handle, so avoid it.

EDIT derp on me, you said california. I really dont have any excuse on missing that bit of info lol
