i have a 91 crx w/ dx tranny. also i have a 94 z6 from an ex civic. this question is about the dx tranny case. is it possible to use the input shaft, countershaft, 5th gear shaft, and ring gear from the z6 trans and stuff it all inside the Dx case. also if i use the dx differential i am guessing i dont have to change the axles. any help would be great. i hate the long gears of the dx trans.

Yes. The gearing is basically the same as a 92-95 EX trans except 2nd is ever so slightly longer and 3rd/4th/5th are ever so slightly shorter. Both have a 4.25 FD.

Cable DX and cable Si gearing is actually identical. The only gearing difference is that the DX FD is 3.889 (3.722 for 88 DX) and the Si is a 4.25 FD.

4g vs 5g..........

one gearset is taller than the other, 5g not going into 4g case.

putting a 4g FD into a 5g case, I've done it, about to do it again. Easy way to my a CX/VX tranny useable, drop in a 3.89 FD :)
