i recently picked up a Compustar alarm system form my buddy and am planing on installing it in my 1996 Honda Civic. I have seen that you can get adapters that plug in to where the Stock HU (head Unit) plug in that will short cut some of the wiring. Also this Alarm is a remote start to and i have a manual trans. i know that there is a way to get around having a 5 speed. I am just looking for some info and advice

i've never heard of this, and it is offered at retail stores all around where i'm at...

you may short the sensor on the clutch and make sure you never try to crack up your car when it's not in neutral. BE CAREFUL with this!!!

and I wonder why it would be illegal to install these devices only in MT vehicles!!??

hook up the neutral safety switch to the ebrake wire

use 2nd channel validity output to temporarily bypass clutch during remote start process

dont ever park in gear or let anyone else drive your car

Compustar help

So i started to put in my Compustar Alarm in my 96 Civic ex. It seems to be working it locks and unlocks the doors the arming light flashes a and the parking lights do there thing to when you lock and unlock it. The Problems i am having is that i cant figure out were the door Trigger goes. Also because of the stupid stock head unit design in the 96 when i took the stock headunit out of behind my dash because i have and in dash dvd my doom light will not work so if any one know how to help me with that. It use to work when i had the stock head unit wired up behind the dash so that i would still have key less entry. One other problem is that when i have my key in the ignition and to the on position then i go to lock it it locks but on the key fob it says that it is unlocked. Now on Hondas they have that safety set up so that they car is not suppose to lock with the keys in the ignition.

dome light fix:

there is a small green harness that has both lt.green with red and lt.green with black wires that used to be plugged into the module above your OEM radio...tie those wires together at the harness.

the reason it locks while you have it in the "on" position is because its setup that way from the manufacturer (compustar). it doesnt send the code to the remote because youre in the vehicle so DUH...you should know the doors are locked.

door trigger fix:

door trigger should be negative IIRC so make sure theresa neg trigger on the alarm brain (most will have both neg and pos). its essentially the dome light wire which can be found in the A pillar or in the OEM alarms harness.

No, the jumper wire goes in a plug, I believe it's green, where you unpluged the radio. The door trigger wire goes to the door trigger wire in the car. If you can't find it you can tie it in to the dome light wire. But if you ever hit the switch on the light so it doesn't come on with the door, then the alarm won't go off if the door is opened.

depending on which model of compustar, it actually is made to work with a manual trans. you just have to go through a process every time you get out of the car. compustar is a very good brand we sell it at our shop. Let me know if you need any wiring diagrams. If you have the manual it should tell you how to set it up for a manual trans.

if your looking for the door triggers they can be found in the factory alarm plug. its at the bottom of the driver kick and its the light green/red wire. and the trunk trigger is in the green plug behind the radio its the blue/black wire. you have to diode isolate both wires with the stripe going into the car. pm me if you need any more wire colors.

It's not "illiegal" to put them in, it's just that the shop doesn't want to take the liability in case something were to happen. At least in Illinois it's not illegal.
