last night at the race track i decided to try a stock y8 cam in my combo,

so i made 3 passes on the comp switched it over in the pits and made 3 passes on the stocker

here is the 2 best passes for each

comp stock y8
2.4950 60ft 2.4121
6.7809 330ft 6.5791
9.6140 594ft 9.4009
10.2521 1/8th 10.0431

70.52 mph 70.06

the comp was dyno tuned while the stock cam was just thown in and ran

yes the car was dyno tuned for 5 hours with that comp cam in it and it had an adjustable cam gear on it so we tried every degree range because it never made any numbers that were anywhere near respectable , the car has seen nothing but 93
octane for 4 years now

oh and btw the car went a 9.95 1/8th the next night after i had access to my timing light.

Zeus, what you said would explain why my car acted the way it did with the comp cam using an auto and stock converter, i need those few horsies down low to get it moving that the comp cam takes away.

24-7,takes me 15 minutes to change the cam in my sohc motor, and the crx weighs around 1600 lbs, there is no way in hell that there is 2 tenths left in weight reduction

great thread for us auto guys. currently running the stage1 comp cam 12:1c/r auto. been wondering if it was the weak link in the eighth.

btw, we talked about this on the other forum. i can really see the weight difference in your crx vs. my ek just by looking at the 60ft.'s i've run some 2.3 60 fts and still end up with a 10.7 e.t. in the eighth. just amazing.

i was driving around today with zex cam in my auto y8 and just knew this is what is killing the power. i know b/c the fastest my car ever ran all motor was with a stock bottom end and a stock z6 cam timed correctly with an aem cam gear. when the motor was rebuilt i hadn't figured out that i got sold a z6 cam and put the stock y8 gear back on. first time to the track after the rebuild and the z6 cam a half tooth retarded, i duplicated the same e.t. that the car was running before the build. now with the y8 zex cam i'm just barely getting within two tenths of that time. i just bought a z6 cam and z6 gear off ebay to go in y8 so it'll be timed correctly. when i get some timeslips we're going to know a whole lot more about automatics and camshafts. (keep in mind i have the 105100 in my 12.1:1 y8 auto)
